Nicholas E. Thornton, 53, of 721 ½ Mansfield St., in Chippewa Falls, died suddenly Monday, January 28, 2013 at his residence.
He was born May 4, 1959 in Chippewa Falls, the son of Richard T. and Verna M. (Postl) Thornton.
Nick was a graduate of McDonell High School in 1977 and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from UWEC in 1982. He completed Graduate Studies at the University of Milwaukee and studied and traveled abroad in Denmark. He formerly owned and operated Thornton Financial Services in Chippewa Falls.
He enjoyed his community and friends. He was a former councilman in Chippewa Falls. He worked for Reed Electric. While he didn’t have any children of his own, he deeply cared for his nieces and one nephew and his friends children; and overall he had an outpouring of love for kids in general.
Nick is survived by one brother, Timothy J. (Carla) of Loveland, Ohio; one sister, Kelly J. (Marvin) Lamb of Fort Collins, Colorado; his step-mother, Meg Thornton of Chippewa Falls; several aunts and uncles and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Jane Thornton in infancy.
A Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, February 4 at the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls. Deacon Thomas Kinnick of St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls will be officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Calvary Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.
