Alice Mae Marshall Obituary

Alice Mae “Allie Mae” Marshall, 92, of Chippewa Falls, passed away on December 10, 2024, at her residence at LakeHouse Senior Living Community, Chippewa Falls.

She was born on May 28, 1932, in Chippewa Falls to John and Alice (Peloquin) Globensky. Alice was a proud graduate of Holy Ghost Elementary School and met her soon to be husband, Alfred Richard Marshall on the school playground in the second grade. Alice married Alfred on September 12, 1953.

After graduating from McDonell High School in 1950 she began work at Mason Shoe and U.S. Rubber. Soon after marriage she moved to Jefferson, WI, Calumet, MI, Homewood, IL and back to Chippewa Falls. In 1965, Alice and Alfred once again packed their bags, and with a family in tow, traveled to a new adventure to Manly, New South Wales and Hobart, Tasmania, Australia where Alfred was a teacher. Alice helped work to support her family in Australia and also made sure to venture to the harbor to talk to the American Navy soldiers coming in for leave. However, in 1969 it was time to come home to her beloved family, community and friends of Chippewa Falls.

After relocating back home, Alice began work at St. Joseph Hospital in Chippewa Falls where she enjoyed an extended career as “Head” Cashier (the only cashier). She loved all the Franciscan Sisters and staff of this Hospital and served in this position for 25 years. Alice would primarily work directly with patients to help and assist them to understand their insurance bill.

Alice was a 40 year member of Notre Dame Parish in Chippewa Falls where she had fun being a “Funeral Lunch Lady”. While she was retired, she volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital Gift Shop. She was also a long time member of “Friends of St. Joe’s Auxiliary” and a lifetime member of the VFW. Alice appreciated community involvement and was as a member of the Chippewa Falls Historical Society and the Heyde Center. Alice was also a long time Al-Anon participant, a member of the American Legion and the Catholics Women’s Club.

Throughout her life Alice enjoyed participating in sports and cherished all her many teammates. She played Women’s Baseball and was on the local team, “The Reporters”. She was an avid bowler as well. Both these teams traveled throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest to participate in tournaments. Alice also enjoyed ice skating, golf league, Oktoberfest, walking and jazzercise!

It was often said that the four greatest loves of Alice, besides all her people, was Holy Ghost Parish, Old Southsiders, McDonell Catholic High School and the School Sisters of Notre Dame.

Family survivors include her two daughters, Julia Marshall of Chippewa Falls and Kathryn (Marty) Patrickus of Lake Tomahawk, WI; sister-in-law and chauffeur, Jean M. Prueher of Chippewa Falls; brother-in law; Thomas J. (Rosemarie) Prueher, Arizona; and dozens of nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Marshall; their twins Mary and Joseph in 1960 and her Globensky brothers and sisters; Gilmore (Avis), Phyllis (Warren), John (Delores), Eunice (James), James (Betty), Beatrice and Herbert; and brother-in-law, Richard R. Prueher.
