Ann M. Zeiger, 93, of Chippewa Falls, died Thursday, December 5, 2024 at the Chippewa Manor Nursing and Rehab under the care of Heartland Hospice with family at her side.

                Ann was born July 30, 1931, in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Peter and Teresa (Muehlbauer) Sokup.

                Ann graduated from McDonell High School with the class of 1949 and St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester, MN with her RN designation.

                While at St. Mary’s, she went on a blind date with Tom Zeiger. (He always said it was love at first sight). They were married on February 2, 1953, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls. They had four children, John, William, Daniel and Mary.

                Ann worked as a Registered Nurse throughout her life. She worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Mt. Carmel Nursing Home in Burlington where she was the Director of Nurses and finally at Pinellas County Hospice in Largo, Florida, which she said was her most rewarding position. She was a very kind, caring and compassionate nurse and enjoyed helping people through those difficult stages of life.

                Ann enjoyed traveling, camping, knitting, reading, biking, canoeing, fishing, walking on the beach in Florida and spending time with family.

                Ann is survived by her sons, John (Lynn) of Traverse City, MI/Ocala, Florida, Bill (Kris) of Lake Zurich, IL, Dan (Cheryl) of Lansing, MI; and daughter, Mary (Tim) Proue of Chippewa Falls; her grandchildren, Amber Zeiger, Amy Boelter, Angela Zeigerbacher, Will Zeiger, Susan Williams, T.J. Proue, Jason Proue; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Stuedli of Port Orange, Florida and nieces and nephews.

                Ann was preceded in death by her husband, parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Angie Sokup and Paul and Pat Sokup; and brother-in-law, Jim Stuedli.

                Ann’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff on the Chippewa Manor Campus for the excellent care of Ann where she has resided for the past 12 years (10 in the apartment setting and 2 in nursing and rehab).

                Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 4 at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls. Inurnment will be in Hope Mausoleum in Chippewa Falls.

                Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 4 at the church.

AFTER SERVICE NOTICE:

A Memorial Mass for Ann M. Zeiger was held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 4 at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls.

                Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Gorman was celebrant of the Memorial Mass assisted by Mass server, Ron Bresina. Inurnment was in Hope Mausoleum in Chippewa Falls.

                Music during the Mass was provided by Julia Proue and Abigail Lynch. Readings were given by Tim Proue and Lynn Zeiger.  Gift bearers were Cheryl Zeiger and Kris Zeiger. There was also a Nurse’s Honor Guard in which they paid a tribute to Ann.

                Urn bearers were Amy Boelter, Jason Proue, T.J. Proue, Susan Williams, Amber Zeiger, Will Zeiger and Angela Zeigerbacher.
