Carl J. “Bud” Brunson, 88, of Chippewa Falls, town of Tilden, passed away peacefully Friday, July 18, 2025, at home surrounded by loved ones.  

Bud, the son of John & Mary (Kresmery) Brunson was born August 16th, 1936, in Eau Claire. 

Bud enjoyed watching football, telling jokes and making people smile.  He liked to hear the laughter and conversations of children through the house. 

Bud's vocations centered around people, connecting to people and building long-term relationships.  Early on he tended bar at a couple of local taverns including Ray's Place on Water Street, and Idlewild Bar on Seymour Road.  He dabbled in other pursuits and enjoyed working with his hands which led him to working as a machinist for a short while at Keller Tool & Machine in Eau Claire.  However, his passion for people and connections to people led him to ultimately become a traveling salesman.  He truly enjoyed the ongoing relationships and connections he established during his work.  His social demeaner and chronic humorous attitude drove this.  Most folks that dealt with Bud will mention his humor.

He is survived by 5 sons, Jeff (Mari) Brunson, Michael Brunson, Scott Brunson, Robert (Svetlana) Brunson, and Joseph (Elaine) Geissler; three daughters, Carla Brunson, Rebecca Geissler and Brenda Geissler; a brother, Harold Brunson; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty”, 2 sons, John and Brian Geissler, his parents; two brothers, Paul and Richard Brunson; and one grandson, Alexander Brunson.  

Funeral services will be held at Noon Friday, July 25 at Notre Dame Church in Chippewa Falls. Rev. Daniel Sedlacek will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Entombment will be in Hope Mausoleum in Chippewa Falls for the immediate family.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at Noon Friday, July 25 at the church.

Funeral services for Carl J. “Bud” Brunson were held at Noon Friday, July 25 at Notre Dame Church in Chippewa Falls.

Rev. Daniel Sedlacek was celebrant of the funeral Mass assisted by Mass server, Mark Birrittella. Entombment was in Hope Mausoleum.

Music during the Mass was provided by Jordan and Sali Bluse, Elaine Geissler, Nancy Haley and Beth Martinek. Readings were given by Channing Lokken and Jerimiah Richardson. Gift bearers were Dakota “Bud” Corniellier and Chad Lokken.

Casket bearers were Christopher Lokken, Jamie Metcalf, Jerimiah Richardson, Francis and Michael Schmidt, and Charlie Schroeder.
