Cordelia M. “Corky” Martell Rubenzer, 98, died Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Chippewa Manor in Chippewa Falls.

Corky was born February 19, 1926, in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of George and Evelyn (Harvey) Martell.

On September 2, 1944, Corky married Wilmer “Bud” Rubenzer at Notre Dame Church in Chippewa Falls.  They were members of Holy Ghost Church for over 75 years. Corky did many volunteer activities at the church, an original church lady. She worked at Muggah Drug, Badger Drug and the Northern Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled.

Corky is survived by her four sons, Robert of Bloomington, MN, Steven (Judee) of Cumberland, Wilmer Jr. “Bill” of Winter, and Randal of Chippewa Falls; one sister, Marjorie Paradise of Rice Lake; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Corky was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; one son Richard; five brothers, Francis “Pal”, Art, Donald, George and Charles Martell; and four sisters, Elizabeth Hayes, Dorothy Bruhling, Rosemary Martell and Beverly Hanson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 31, at Holy Ghost Church in Chippewa Falls.  The Very Rev. Jesse Burish will be celebrant of the funeral Mass.  Entombment will be in Hope Mausoleum in Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 31 at the church.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Chippewa Manor Nursing Home and Heartland Hospice.

Corky was a great wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and would always be willing to help and support those that needed it.

AFTER SERVICE NOTICE:

Funeral services for Cordelia “Corky” M. Rubenzer were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 31 at Holy Ghost Church in Chippewa Falls.

The Very Rev. Jesse Burish was celebrant of the funeral Mass and officiated at the prayers of entombment in Hope Mausoleum in Chippewa Falls.       

Music during the Mass was provided by Judy Brist and Tammy Rubenzer. Readings were given by Bob Rubenzer and Belinda Dressel. Gift bearers were Becky Gilles, Courtney Mudrick and Shelby Worthan.

Casket bearers were Christopher, Craig, Dave, Jason, Kip, and Paul Rubenzer.
