Cynthia K. Atkinson Obituary
Cynthia K. Atkinson, 66, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family under the care of Mayo Clinic Hospice.
Cindy was born August 19, 1958 in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Robert G. and Edith (Ritter) Short.
On May 22, 2010, Cindy married Jon Atkinson in Chippewa Falls.
She was a true tomboy and spent a lot of time coaching and playing in numerous softball and volleyball leagues. She enjoyed bowling, fishing and golfing – even winning the league one year with her friend, Cheryl as the only woman team. She made great memories with some of her best girlfriends in their group, SOS: Sisters of Sin. She loved summer camping trips, Friday fish fry’s, fall leaf runs with her husband, watching out for cardinals and hummingbirds, being the biggest supporter of anything her children did and having “Nana Days” watching her grandson, Fletcher. Nothing beats spending time with her husband, children and grandson.
Cindy will be remembered for her contagious laugh and smile that lit up a room, sense of humor, quick wittedness, caring nature and kind and understanding heart.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Jon; one son, Matt (Nicole) Swoboda of Eau Claire; two daughters, Ashley Marie Pilgrim of Chippewa Falls and Alyssa (Trevor) Rosemeyer of Thorp; five brothers, Steven (Debra), Dale (Leane), Mike (Cindy), and Bob Short all of Chippewa Falls and Thomas (Mary Ellen) Short of Eau Claire; two sisters, Judith Nehring of Chippewa Falls and Marie Holstein of Eau Claire; and one grandson, Fletcher Rosemeyer.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Chris and Gerald Short.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 10 at Central Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls. Following services there will be a Celebration of Life from 3p.m. until 7 p.m. at Ojibwa (OJ) Golf Course in Chippewa Falls. Rev. Aaron Sturgis will be officiating.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. Friday, January 10 at the church.
Cindy’s family would like to thank Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, Mayo Hospice and all the family and friends that’ve offered their support during this time.
The family prefers memorials to Ojibwa Golf Course (OJ) for trees in memory of Cindy.
