Dan A. Rhutasel, 61, of Chippewa Falls, town of LaFayette, died Thursday, December 26, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family under the care of Heartland Hospice.

                Dan was born June 11, 1963 in New Lisbon, the son of Bruce and Sharon (Smith) Rhutasel.

                On October 12, 2012, Dan married Laura Rowe-Mathwig in Ashland.

                Dan was a very loving and caring soul. You could feel his presence when he entered a room. He had a great sense of humor and wit. He was passionate about his hobbies like collecting lanterns and gardening. When he would tell a story, everyone listened, mainly to hear what kind of trouble he could get into. His beloved cat, Rainbow was always by his side. Dan and his wife loved their adventures and enjoyed frequent road trips to Hayward, Bayfield, and especially Copper Harbor, MI.

                Dan is survived by his wife, Laura; two sons, John (significant other, Summer Koerner) Rhutasel of Altoona and Dawson Mathwig of Menomonie; two daughters, Kathryn (fiancé, Nolan Lostocco) Rhutasel of Woodbury, MN and Sydney (significant other, Adrien Head) Mathwig of Chippewa Falls; his parents, Bruce and Sharon of Oregon, WI; one brother, Neal Rhutasel of Waukesha; one sister, Bobbett (Jeff) Shaub of Stoughton; his mother-in-law, Rosemary Ewoldt of Marshfield; and father-in-law, Dick (Jeanne) Rowe of Bloomer and many other relatives and friends.

                Dan was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Roger Ewoldt.

                A Celebration of Life service will take place from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Bateman Tavern in the town of LaFayette. Inurnment will be in Hope Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.
