David W. Weibel Obituary

David W. Weibel, 75, of New Brighton MN died Saturday, July 27th, 2024 at Benedictine Senior Living, Memory Care Unit, in Osseo MN.


David was born in Medford, WI on May 11, 1949, the son of William "Bill" and Georgine "Jean" Hingen Weibel.


He attended Holy Rosary Elementary school, Medford and Columbus High School, Marshfield, WI. Following High School graduation, he attended Madison Business College, Madison, WI receiving a B.A. in Business Management / Computer Programming. 


He served in the Navy from 1970 as a communications technician, primarily in Japan and aboard ship


 until honorably discharged 1976.


After Navy discharge, David briefly worked as chief teller for Target.  He was hired by Cargill, Inc. Corporate Headquarters, in the communications / IT department for 24 years starting in 1978. He also did consultant work for Cargill following retirement along with freelance work.


He attended LaCordon Bleu Culinary School, Minneapolis from 2000 to 2002 graduating with high honors.   Following graduation from LaCordon Bleu he worked as an associate chef at a local golf course/ restaurant and as Executive Chef for PBPOE Elks Post “44 in Brooklyn Park, MN.


David was also a member of the BPOE ELKS post # 44 for 24 years using his extensive programming skills to help the post and the Elks Minnesota State headquarters with various communication / IT issues by updating writing and rewriting programs as needed to help them run smoother as well as his chef duties.


Using his culinary skills, David would do various large dinners for the membership and for handicapped and shut-in veteran’s dinners throughout the years using the Boy Scouts as dinner partners for the veterans which was his most important contribution to the Mpls. VA.  During the course of his membership, he became an adult volunteer for the Elks sponsored Boy Scouts Troop, highlighted with his installment into the Order of the Arrow.


David had a huge interest in native Americans and became close friends of the Ojibwe tribe, Minnesota and an honorary member of their tribe.


David was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Ruth Ann (Weibel) Fudala.


He is survived by his brothers, Gerald (Cheryl) of Everett, Washington, Donald (Carolyn) of Chippewa Falls, WI; LeRoy (Mary Beth) of Bloomington, MN, brother-in law, Ronald Fudala, of Aiken, Minnesota, nieces and a nephew, and great nieces and great nephews.


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Parish, 1414 W. 5th St., Marshfield, WI 54449. The Very Rev. Douglas C. Robertson will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield. Military rites will be conducted.


Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 17th at the parish.


In lieu of flowers, the family encourages giving a monetary donation to your local VA Help Centers.


AFTER SERVICE NOTICE:


Funeral services for David W. Weibel were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17 at Our Lady of Peace Parish in Marshfield.


The Very Rev. Douglas C. Robertson was celebrant of the funeral Mass and officiated at the prayers of interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield. Military rites were conducted by the American Legion Post #54.


Music during the Mass was provided by Lee Riekki and the church choir. Readings were given by Renee Towne and Karla Weibel.


Casket bearers were Patrick Baker, LeRoy Towne, Dale, Dean, Randy and Todd Weibel.
