Eugene R. Sperry, Jr. Obituary
Today, we gather to honor and remember a man whose spirit was far too big to be contained by one place, one life, or one moment in time—Eugene Sperry Jr. (Geno)
Geno was born on November 19, 1975, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. From the very beginning, he was a free soul—restless in the best way, always searching for the next adventure.
He didn’t just live life—he grabbed it with both hands, and he lived it to the fullest.
In his younger years, Eugene hopped trains and traveled the country, chasing the horizon and collecting stories that only he could tell. No matter where he went, he carried a piece of home in his heart. And no matter how far he roamed, he always found his way back to the people he loved.
Eugene had many passions—his beloved dog, Lily, his scooter, the satisfying clink of an Old Milwaukee can being opened on a sunny day. He loved working on cars with his brother, Jarred, getting his hands dirty and sharing that special brotherly bond only they understood.
But Eugene’s greatest passion—his truest calling—was his family. He loved bigger than himself. He was a father, a grandfather, a son, a brother, and a friend who could light up a room just by walking into it. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, like they belonged. He never turned down a good time, and if you were with Eugene, you knew you were in for one.
Eugene also had a strength about him—a quiet courage that carried him through life’s toughest battles. And in the end, he fought with everything he had. He never gave up.
To know Eugene was to love him, and to be loved by Eugene was to be truly blessed. His laughter, his loyalty, his unstoppable spirit—these are the things we will carry with us.
Though we say goodbye today, Eugene’s story doesn’t end here. It lives on in the memories we share, in the adventures we tell, in the family he loved so fiercely. It lives on every time someone chooses to live life to the fullest—just like he did.
Rest easy, Geno. May the rails be smooth, the roads be open, and the sunsets endless. We’ll see you down the line.
Honoring Eugene’s wishes, there will be no celebration of life.
He leaves behind his mother, Constance Sperry; his sisters, Karla (Travis) Prince of Bloomer, Amy Sperry (Johnny Amundson) of Elk Mound, Angie Sperry (Mike Perkins), and Dawn (Bryan) Baker both of Chippewa Falls; his brothers, Russell (Stacia) and Jarred; his daughters, Estella and Angelica; his girlfriend, Gail; one grandson, Travis, Jr.; and his beloved pup, Lilly.
Eugene was preceded in death by his father, Eugene, Sr.; and his sister, Lora Holmquist.
