Glenna M. Bowe Obituary
Glenna M. Bowe, 94, of Chippewa Falls, passed away peacefully Monday, August 5, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family under the care of St. Croix Hospice.
Glenna was born March 29, 1930 in Eau Claire, the daughter of Raymond and Margaret (Stelter) Oliver. She attended Chippewa Falls Senior High School, graduating in 1947. Three days later, she was working at Northwestern Bank.
On May 29, 1951, she married Donald Maynard Bowe at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls. She and Don “Dick” as some affectionately called him were devoted members of that church all their lives. Her faith and family were her most cherished gifts. Through the years, both Dick and Glenna served on many church committees.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Many family celebrations were her biggest joy, giving her time to spend with them all. After their children were grown, she went to work for Scholl Distribution.
Glenna loved playing cards and bingo with many good friends. She also loved traveling after her retirement from the courthouse in the Register of Deeds office in 1992. She went to Hawaii to spend a week with granddaughter, Naomi Loga who lived there. She also traveled the British Isles with friends and beloved sister-in-law, Doris Bowe. Going to Spain, France and Italy with some of the McDonell High students was an unforgettable fun time.
She and Don went to Florida for a couple months each winter for about 10 years. Glenna always felt fortunate to spend time there.
She will be deeply missed by her five daughters, Pauline “Tutti” (Robert) Hayes of Chippewa Falls, Anita (David) Wasserburger of Marshfield, Jerianne Bowe of Appleton, Marilyn (Craig) Swoboda of Chippewa Falls and Catherine (Randy) Feuling of Chippewa Falls; ten grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; brother, Chuck (Ruth) Oliver of Edina, MN; sisters-in-law, Irene Bowe, Isabelle Bowe, and Jane Bowe; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Glenna was preceded in death by her husband, Dick on December 21, 2023; one daughter, Mary in infancy; her parents, Raymond and Margaret Oliver; in-laws, Arthur and Alfrieda Bowe; and great grandson, Simon Loga.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 12 at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls. Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Gorman will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Tilden.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 11 and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday at the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls. There will be a Christian vigil service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Glenna was an inspiration to her family and accepted challenges willingly. She had a positive attitude and loved life.
Glenna’s family would like to especially thank Dr. Mary Kuehl, Dr. Kyle Dettbarn and St. Croix Hospice nurses, Quinn, Leah and Jenny for the wonderful care she received and especially good neighbors, Ron and Joy Danielson.
Glenna’s family prefers memorials to St. Charles Parish or St. Croix Hospice.
