James W. Bourget, 91, of Chippewa Falls, village of Lake Hallie, died Monday, December 11, 2023 at his daughter’s residence in Altoona surrounded by his loving family under the care of Hospice.
James was born June 9, 1932 in Ladysmith, the son of Wilfred and Edith (Geist) Bourget. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Des Moines and U.S.S. Dashiell.
On May 3, 1958, James married Patricia Jodie at St. Anthony’s Church in Drywood.
James owned Chip’s Hamburger’s and worked for IBM and Johnson Printing. He was a member of Holy Ghost Church and the Knights of Columbus Goldsmith Council #974.
James was always looking to help anyone with all his knowledge. Dad instilled a good work ethic in us, and he enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting, and fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to eat and go to kids’ games and being together with his family. He was very devoted to his Faith.
James is survived by one son, Mark Bourget of Chippewa Falls; two daughters, Michelle Bourget of Altoona and Melissa Bourget of Eleva; one sister, Carol Waldusky of Chippewa Falls; seven grandchildren, Miranda Smith, Meghan (Ryan) Sykora, Kiersten Smith, Kole Smith, Emily (Casey “Bubba”) Gudis, James Welch and Jenna Welch; and six great grandchildren, Kahlei, Kapri, Oaklei, Ivy, Beckham and Elizabeth.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia on May 1, 2016; his parents; two brothers, William in infancy and Robert Bourget; and one sister, Betty Henning.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Tuesday, December 19 at Holy Ghost Church in Chippewa Falls. Rev. Brandon Guenther will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery in the village of Lake Hallie. Military rites will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, December 18 at the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls and from 11 a.m. until the time of services at Noon on Tuesday at the church. The Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 4 p.m. and there will be a Christian vigil service at 5 p.m. both on Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services for James W. Bourget were held at Noon on Tuesday, December 19 at Holy Ghost Church in Chippewa Falls.
Rev. Brandon Guenther was celebrant of the funeral Mass and officiated at the prayers of interment in Prairie View Cemetery in Lake Hallie. Military rites were conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
Music during the Mass was provided by Nancy Haley and Beth Martinek. Gift bearers were Kahlei Gunn, Kapri Roach and Ivy Sykora.
Casket bearers were Emily Gudis, Kiersten, Kole and Miranda Smith, Meghan Sykora, James and Jenna Welch.
The Knights of Columbus Goldsmith Council #974 and their chaplain, Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Gorman led the family, relatives and friends in the recitation of the rosary and the Very Rev. Jesse Burish led them in a Christian vigil service both on Monday at the funeral home.
