Jean M. Mayer

It is with deep sadness that we share the loss of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Jean Marie Mayer (Bergevin), a loving mother and proud grandmother.

Jean died Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Dove Healthcare South in Eau Claire surrounded by her loving family under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

Jean was born on Feb. 15, 1935 in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Wilfred and Marion (Ethel Hagen) Bergevin in Chippewa Falls where she spent her entire life.

Jean was a member of St. Charles Parish and volunteered time at the church as well as working for Post Realty. A few of the places she enjoyed travelling to were Branson, AR, Florida for brewery conventions, Hawaii and Europe. She loved to play Bridge, whether it was with couples or friends. Golf was something else she enjoyed doing in her younger days. In her later years she enjoyed visiting Irvine Park and the various places in Chippewa Falls where she had lived and raised a family with Paul. Spending time with her family and friends is something that she cherished.

It was Jan. 29, 1955 when Jean married the love of her life Paul L. Mayer and together, they began building their family. They were blessed with 7 children: Jeff, David (Mary Jo), Kari (Andy), Bob (Laura), Mark (Claudia), Amy (Dan), and Jamie (Lori); 6 grandchildren Kelsey and Myriah, Hannah, Evan, Nicole, Danni and an expected great grandchild.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Paul L. Mayer on December 16, 2001; her parents, Wilfred and Marion Bergevin; her sister, Geraldine McCaghy; her brother, Robert Bergevin; one brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Rita Mayer and grandson, Corey Mayer.

We would like to thank the staff at Dove Healthcare South especially Paige, Jillian, Mandy and Ally also Anne and her team from St. Croix Hospice who took such good care of her during her time there.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25th at St. Charles Church, Chippewa Falls. Rev. William P. Felix will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 25th at the church

AFTER SERVICE NOTICE:

A Memorial Mass for Jean M. Mayer was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25th at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls.

Rev. William P. Felix and Rev. Alex Kren concelebrated at the Memorial Mass assisted by Mass servers, Ron Bresina and Tom Weyenberg. Inurnment was in Calvary Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.

Music during the Mass was provided by Curstin Lynch and the St. Charles Funeral Choir. Readings were given by Bill Quirk and Andy Warren. Gift bearers were Danni Mayer and Hannah Sabaska.

Urn bearers were Evan and Hannah Sabaska, Danni Mayer and Bill Quirk.
