Karla J. Rothbauer, 72, of Bloomer, town of Woodmohr, died Sunday, August 3, 2025 at her residence with her family by her side under the care of Heartland Hospice.

Karla was born on February 16, 1953 in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Charles and LaDonna (Kobiske) Hebert.

On February 17, 1973, Karla married Norbert Rothbauer at Notre Dame Church in Chippewa Falls. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church. She worked at Rutledge Home for 20 years. Karla was an excellent cook, baker, and enjoyed gardening, quilting, woodworking and loved her title as “Grandma” more than anything.

Karla is survived by her husband, Norb; one son, Granger (Erin) of Bloomer; two daughters, Sara (Scot) Michels of Chippewa Falls and Mikki (Chad Rinkenberger) Rothbauer of Woodbury, MN; two brothers, Michael (Kay) Hebert and Charles (Maureen) Hebert both of Chippewa Falls; one sister, Leane (Dale) Short of Chippewa Falls; stepbrothers, Vern (Rhonda) Shipley and Ty (Jill) Shipley both of Chippewa Falls; and seven grandchildren, Austin, Emma (Jeremy), Avery, Bowen, Kaden, Lillia and Logan.

Karla was preceded in death by her parents; and one stepsister, Lucy Prince and half-sister, Lisa Hebert.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 9 at St. Peter’s Church in Tilden. Rev. Timothy Oudenhoven will be celebrant of the Memorial Mass. Inurnment will be in Hope Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 8 at the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls and from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church. There will be a Christian vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

AFTER SERVICE NOTICE:

A Memorial Mass for Karla J. Rothbauer was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 9 at St. Peter’s Church in Tilden.

Rev. Timothy Oudenhoven was celebrant of the Memorial Mass and officiated at the prayers of inurnment in Hope Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.

Music during the Mass provided by Nancy Haley and the St. Peter’s Funeral Choir. Readings were given by Emma Cloud and Lillia Martin. Gift bearers were Jeremy Cloud and Avery Michels. A eulogy was given by Mikki Rinkenberger.

Urn bearers were Austin Michels, Logan and Kaden Rinkenberger and Bowen Rothbauer.

Friday evening Rev. Oudenhoven led the family, relatives and friends in a Christian vigil service at the funeral home.
