Lorraine Sommerfeld Obituary

Lorraine A. Sommerfeld, 94, of Bloomer, town of Eagle Point, died Monday, April 13, 2026 at Aggies Country Living in Eagle Point.

                Lorraine was born December 2, 1931 in Bloomer, the daughter of Joseph and Regina (Zwiefelhofer) Loschko.

                On February 26, 1949, Lorraine married Robert H. Sommerfeld, Sr. at Notre Dame Church in Chippewa Falls. She was a member of St. Charles Church and sang in the church choir.

                Lorraine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, with a particularly special bond with her daughter, Lisa. She had a gift for music and creativity, enjoying playing the piano and expressing herself through her many crafts including sewing and painting. She also had a green thumb and loved flowers and gardening. Lorraine was an excellent cook and an even more remarkable baker-whenever she and Lisa were together, there were always fresh, homemade cookies to share.

                Lorraine is survived by three sons, Michael (Candice) Sommerfeld of Prescott, AZ, Kurt (Gail) Sommerfeld of Manorville and John (Barbara) Sommerfeld of Rice Lake; one daughter, Marcia (Tom) Schick of Chippewa Falls; one daughter-in-law, Eileen Sommerfeld of Altoona; one sister, Dorothee Sommerfeld of Chippewa Falls; 14 grandchildren and 30+ great grandchildren.

                Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert on September 2, 2018; one son, Robert Sommerfeld, Jr.; one daughter, Lisa Sommerfeld; her parents; one brother, Adrian “Ace” Loschko; and grandson, Matt Sommerfeld.

                A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 20th at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls. Inurnment will be in South Catholic Cemetery in Bloomer.

                Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 20th at the church.

              The family would like to extend an extra special appreciation to Aggies Country Living for all their care and compassion.

AFTER SERVICE NOTICE: 

A Memorial Mass for Lorraine A. Sommerfeld was held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 20th at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls.

Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Gorman was celebrant of the Memorial Mass assisted by Mass servers, Steve Armstrong and Tom Weyenberg. Inurnment was in South Catholic Cemetery in Bloomer.

Music during the Mass was provided by Curstin Lynch, the St. Charles Funeral Choir and Julia Proue. Readings were given by Beth Melby and Gail Sommerfeld. Gift bearer was Ryan Sommerfeld.

Urn bearers were Roberta Gehwiler, Jackie Molden, Brian and Shawn Sommerfeld and Samantha Tonkin.
