Mary Lucile (“Mary Lu”) Amundson, 84, of Chippewa Falls, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020 surrounded by love at Lake Hallie Memory Care in the village of Lake Hallie under the care of Mayo Clinic Hospice.
Mary Lu was born June 16, 1935 in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Hugh E. and Lucile (Hanley) Brick.
Mary Lu graduated from McDonell High School in Chippewa Falls in 1952. She began her long career in secretarial work shortly after high school and married Dennis W. Amundson at Notre Dame Church in Chippewas Falls on July 16, 1955. They moved to the Chicago area in 1961 where she continued to use the intelligence and organizational skills for which she was known as an Executive Secretary at a large pharmaceutical company.
After retirement they returned to Chippewa Falls, where Mary Lu graciously volunteered her time to a number of organizations. Those who were privileged enough to know her and work with her appreciated her dedication and attention to detail. She was active in Recovery International and helped many, many people during her lifetime. Her generosity and laughter will be missed by those she leaves behind.
Mary Lu was a member of the Church of Notre Dame and was active in the church and in the Catholic Women’s Club.
Mary Lu is survived by one sister, Judith (Armand “Armie”) Vaudreuil; nephew, Craig (Susan) Vaudreuil; niece, Amy Vaudreuil; and grand-niece, Keelin Vaudreuil all of Chippewa Falls; as well as several cousins.
Mary Lu was preceded in death by her husband, Denny. She will also be reunited with her parents; as well as her twin sisters, Jean Faye Brick and Jane Kay Brick; and brother, Daniel Hugh Brick, who all died in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary Lu’s honor may be made to Notre Dame Church, McDonell High School or the Alzheimer’s Association.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date.

Private Funeral services for Mary Lucile (Mary Lu) Amundson were held.
Rev. Jesse Burish of Notre Dame Church officiated at the services. Inurnment was in Hope Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.
