Ramona M. Goettl, 89, died peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Marshfield Medical Center, Eau Claire.
Ramona was born August 29, 1936, in Eau Claire, the daughter of Burton and Rachel Hilt (Hathaway).
She married James Goettl on May 5, 1956, at St. Paul’s Church in Bloomer. Early in their marriage they spent time in San Francisco, California while Jim was serving in the military. They later returned to Chippewa Falls, where they made their home on the family farm in Eagle Point.
In 2000, Ramona and Jim retired and built their home on Prairie Lake in Chetek. They spent many happy years there enjoying the lake, fishing, playing cards, and visiting with friends and family. Ramona valued the friendships she built over the years and truly appreciated the many friends who were an important part of her life.
Ramona worked at Mason Shoe Co for several years and later at Cray Inc. where she worked for 25 years before retiring in 2006. She was a member of St. Charles Church and the Catholic Women’s Club. Ramona enjoyed baking / cooking, and sewing, making quilts, and knitting afghans for her grandchildren. She had a big heart and was always offering to help, taking care of friends and family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ramona is survived by her children, Susan Goettl-Hedrington (Jeff), David Goettl (Cindy), and Steven Goettl (Roxanne), all of Chippewa Falls, Gary Goettl of St. Charles, Missouri, and Brian Goettl (Leah) of Des Moines, Iowa; 7 grandchildren, Chris Hedrington (Amanda Osborn), Craig Goettl (Sarah), Karen Sarazen (Jason), Erik Goettl (Sara Steig), Tyler Goettl (Kim), Rachel Rutter (AJ), and Mitchell Goettl; 11 great-grandchildren, Landon, Emily, Cooper, Madden, Jace, Parker, Banks, Austin, Ciara, Colton, and Brooke; along with many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ramona was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James in 2021; her grandson, John Gregory Goettl; her sister, Roberta Strokirch, along with many dear nephews, cousins, and friends.
Her legacy lives on through her family and the many friendships she held close.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Noon Wednesday, March 25th at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls. Inurnment will be in Hope Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at Noon Wednesday, March 25th at the church.
AFTER SERVICE NOTICE:
A Memorial Mass for Ramona M. Goettl was held at Noon Wednesday, March 25th at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls.
Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Gorman was celebrant of the Memorial Mass assisted by Mass servers, Steve Armstrong and Ron Bresina.
Music during the Mass was provided by Curstin Lynch and Amanda Tanzer. Readings were given by Sister Yvonne Hiess and Rachel Rutter. Gift bearers were Rachel Rutter and Karen Sarazen.
Urn bearers were Craig, Erik, Mitchell and Tyler Goettl and Chris Hedrington.
