Richard L. Allen, 90, of Jim Falls, WI died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at VitaCare Senior Living in Bloomer.

Richard was born February 25, 1934, in Long Beach, CA to Myron and Dorothy Allen.

On June 19, 1955, Richard married Heather Blair at Bay Shore Community Church in Long Beach, CA.

Richard was a plant horticulturist, the “Plant Doctor” since age 5, college professor, high school teacher, and a member of Birch Street Baptist Church. Richard enjoyed travelling across the US with his family. He and Heather also visited Alaska, Hawaii, and traveled abroad to Israel and Europe. They owned and operated Living Waters Nursery in Jim Falls.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Heather on August 12, 2019, and two brothers, Don and David Allen.

He is survived by six children, Eileen (Tom) Sumwalt, Evelyn (Stan) Blair Allen, Eleanor Allen Ribera, Elizabeth Patrick, Brian (Heather) Allen, and Rachel (Michael) Anderson. He had 24 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, May 15 at Birch Street Baptist Church in Eau Claire with Pastor Tim Hallett Jr. officiating and later interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Town of Washington.

Family and friends may call from 10 am until the time of service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15 at the church. A light lunch will follow the service.
