Ronald Williams Obituary

Ronald O. Williams, 74, of Eau Claire, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024 at his home.

Ron was born May 23, 1949, in Eau Claire, WI. He was the first child of Donald and Lorraine (Gilbertson) Williams.

Even at an early age, Ron always had a passion for the great outdoors. You could often find him hunting or fishing, whether it be alone or with friends and family. Ron had a love for animals, he had many pets over the years, including a squirrel named Rocky. His love for the outdoors came from a childhood where he spent time at the family cabin and summers on the family farm in Brunswick. On the farm, he would spend most of his time with his grandmother, who he adored.

Ron attended Memorial High School and received a welding certificate from CVTC. He spent his working years welding for various employers, most recently providing his talent as a master welder at PDM Bridge/Phoenix Steel. He was part of a team which built and sent quality bridges all around the world and he was proud of that.

Ron was a devoted Packer fan! Many of his years were spent riding and rebuilding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, even taking trips out west to Sturgis. He enjoyed watching an occasional auto race as well.

Like any good angler, Ron was a great storyteller. He had a great memory and loved to share stories of his past with others. Ron was quite the jokester, and he loved a good joke… especially a dirty one. Ron always had a glimmer in his eye, waiting for the perfect moment to spring a joke or prank and it brought him great joy to make his daughters wince!

Ron enjoyed watching true court cases, old movies and keeping up with the local news. He knew everything about current events around the world and would love to talk about them.

Those that knew Ron well would say he was an easy-going and fun-loving guy. Ron made friends wherever he went and to most, he was known as "Willie." He was blessed with many lifelong friendships, including several of his childhood buddies. Ron enjoyed a great story and shared a good laugh with those around him.

Ron loved his daughters deeply. He always greeted them with a "hey kiddo" and always expressed his appreciation for their assistance in his later years. He had a kind soul and wanted the best for his beautiful daughters and their families.

Ron will be profoundly missed by his two daughters, Lee (Darven) Miller of Chippewa Falls and Shannon (Jason) Carlson of Baldwin; two brothers, Robert (Johanne) Williams of Ladysmith and Gregory Williams of Arizona; two sisters, Cheryl Williams of Menomonie and SueAnn Williams of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Tiffany (Sean) Diesterhaft, Taylor Miller, Alexandra Carlson, Jacob Carlson and Grace Carlson; and three great grandchildren, Tyler, Hazel and Elsie.  As well as his stepsister, stepbrother, aunts and many nieces and nephews.

Ron will be joining in heaven his parents, grandparents, extended family, and a few close friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19th, 2024, at the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls. Rev. Aaron Sturgis of Central Lutheran Church will be officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19 at the funeral home.
