Shirley M. Rasmus, 95, of Chippewa Falls, village of Lake Hallie, died Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Lake Hallie Memory Care in Lake Hallie.

                Shirley was born January 23, 1929 in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Louis and Rose (Fox) Greenwood.

                On August 5, 1950, Shirley married Paul Rasmus at Notre Dame Church in Chippewa Falls. She worked at an animal hospital and then groomed dogs for 25 years. She was a member of Notre Dame Church.

                Animals were very special to her, she was very artistic and did Norwegian rosemaling, she helped raise her grandchildren, was a very devout Catholic, and was loved by her family, friends and neighbors.

                Shirley is survived by one daughter, Kathy (George “Roberts”) Milbrath of Eau Claire; special friend, Jerry Thornton of Chippewa Falls; four grandchildren, Liz (Jamie) Behrens, Lori Rasmus, Erik Rasmus and Dustin Milbrath; 10 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

                Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Paul on October 16, 2005; one son, Rick Rasmus; her parents; one brother, James Greenwood; and two sisters, Rosemary “Sis” McCarthy and Jackie Gubrud.

                A Memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20 at Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls. Rev. David Nowicki will be officiating. Inurnment will be in Hope Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.

                Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20 at the funeral home.

                In lieu of flowers, Shirley’s family prefers memorials to the Humane Society or Bob’s House for dogs.

AFTER SERVICE NOTICE:

A Memorial service for Shirley M. Rasmus was held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 20 at the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls.

                Rev. David Nowicki officiated at the service. Inurnment was in Hope Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.

                Urn bearers were Liz Behrens, Dustin Milbrath, Erik and Lori Rasmus.
