Steven Wayne Radke, 72, of Chippewa Falls, town of Hallie, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 23, 2024 after battling prostate cancer for the past 5 years.
Steve was born in Chippewa Falls, on March 9th, 1952 the son of Harold and Emogene (Niblett) Radke. He enlisted in the U.S. Army ay the age of 17 and served in the Vietnam War for 2 1/2 years. After serving in the army, Steve returned to school and received his GED and graduated from Chippewa Valley Technical College with an associate’s degree in marketing.
Steven married Beth Olson in 1973 and they later divorced. Steve was employed at John’s Auto Parts and Ken Loesch Automotive in Chippewa Falls. Steve purchased Falls Bowling Alley in Chippewa Falls in 1985. He co-owned and operated the bowling alley with Jim Altman for 33 years before retiring in 2018.
Steve married Joyce (Christenson) on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2004 in Chippewa Falls. Together they operated the Brass Rail Restaurant, as part of the bowling alley for 10 years.
Steve’s biggest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and being outside on his hobby farm in the town of Hallie.
Steve is survived by his wife of 20 years, Joyce; two daughters, Kelly Lee (Gene Anderson) of Chippewa Falls, granddaughters, Kiran Kessa, Norah Delilah and Julie Radke of Chippewa Falls and granddaughter Jade and grandson Jordy; three brothers, Harold “Hal” (Pat) Radke of Chippewa Falls, John (Barb) Radke of Neillsville and Mike (Louise) Radke of Drummond.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews, Tim and Michael.
The family would like to say a special thank you to HSHS Sacred Heart, Marshfield Medical Center, especially the Cancer Clinic, and Interim Hospice for the care that was provided to Steve.
Steve was fortunate to recently participate in the Freedom Honor Flight to Washington D.C. on May 4th. The family would like to express much gratitude to the Freedom Honor Flight staff, nurse, Nadine for making this journey possible.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 7th at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Chippewa Falls. Inurnment will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner at a later date.
Steve fought his battle with cancer right to the very end.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Klein Hall or the Freedom Honor Flight.
