William "BJ" Michalek, Jr.

William “BJ” Michalek, Jr., 46, of Eau Claire, died at home on Thursday, January 21, 2021 surrounded in love with family after a yearlong battle with cancer.

BJ was born August 7, 1974 in Platteville, the son of William and Kathryn (Goettl) Michalek, Sr.

On August 2, 1997, BJ married Lisa Willert at Holy Ghost Church in Chippewa Falls.

BJ was a field service manager at WRR Environmental Services.

He was a member of St. Olaf’s Catholic Church.

BJ loved participating in sports of all kinds, starting with wrestling in middle and high school and was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend to all. BJ touched so many lives with his kind heart, infectious smile, and easygoing attitude. He gave 110% in everything he did. BJ loved sharing his passions with kids, coaching, and educating with patience and kindness. He was passionate about preserving our natural resources for future generations. BJ was the #1 fan of his girls in all their endeavors. Everyone who knew BJ loved him.

BJ is survived by his wife, Lisa; two daughters, Mikayla and Loralei both at home; his parents, Bill and Kathy of Chippewa Falls; one brother, Mike (Sally) Michalek of Bloomer; and other relatives and friends.

BJ was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Millie Michalek and maternal grandparents, John and Caroline Goettl.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, January 27 at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Eau Claire. Rev. James Kurzynski will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Inurnment will be in Prairie View Cemetery in Lake Hallie at a later date.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, January 27 at the church.

Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Per the state mandate, facemasks are required for all those attending.

AFTER SERVICE NOTICE:

A Memorial Mass for William “BJ” Michalek, Jr. was held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, January 27 at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Eau Claire.

Rev. James Kurzynski and Rev. Justin Kizewski concelebrated at the funeral Mass.

Music during the Mass was provided by Ron Buckles, Nicole Harper, Jan Liedl and the St. Olaf Funeral Choir. A reflection was given by Kylee Willert and readings were given by Tom Peter.

Urn bearers were Mike Michalek, Joshua Pond, John Schmidt and Joe Weber.
